The Carbon Trust implementation guides are a ‘self help’ tool to help organisations implement energy saving projects.
Energy saving projects have major benefits including lower running costs, less maintenance and frequently better working environment or productivity benefits. They also reduce your organisation's carbon footprint helping to combat climate change.
These guides provide information, templates and examples to help you:
- Build the business case for your project and get senior management sign off.
- Develop a specification of your requirements.
- Find appropriate contractors.
- Procure a suitable solution.
You should use these guides if you:
- Have had an energy survey that has identified a potential project.
- Have limited knowledge and/or expertise in specification and procurement of energy saving projects.
- Want to know what practical next steps you should take.
These guides contain general information relevant to all projects on how to build a business case and manage a procurement process.
These guides are not designed to make you an expert in energy efficiency technologies but will provide you with guidance to allow you to generate a basic specification of your requirements that will provide the basis for discussion and negotiation with suitably qualified and experienced contractors.
Advice on how to use these guides is available from the Carbon Trust Advice Line on 0800 085 2005. Further information on energy saving technologies can also be found in the publications section of this website.
