Criteria change for the Energy-Efficiency Loan Scheme from the Carbon Trust
From the 1st December 2006 we need to increase the existing carbon threshold of 0.39 to 0.7T Carbon/annum per £1,000 loaned (note this is Carbon not Carbon Dioxide). This will apply to all existing Loan applications currently being processed and all future applications received for the scheme on or after this date.
The original threshold was set at the beginning of 2003 and the requirement for this step change has been driven by the significant energy prices that have been seen over this period. This in turn has resulted in a decreasing cost effectiveness of the Loans scheme in terms of actual Carbon savings made per £ loaned.
In order to meet the Carbon targets set for the scheme and to recover its cost effectiveness this increase is necessary to greatly improve the amount of Carbon saved from the funds available to the scheme.
